Hey dear readers!
Sorry so long no post. Mr. CA and I went to Bunbury for a minivacation. Mainly we went because I wanted to take the Australind train down there (we love trains) and we had an Entertainment coupon for a restaurant down there as well (we love the Entertainment Book). If that wasn’t enough, we were also celebrating UN-Valentines day. Not the United Nations, but an alternative day to celebrate our love, without all the commercialisation and restaurant bookings.
This was a perfect time to take my Cambina out for a night. I’m calling her Cambina because she’s all about beautiful Italian roses.
Here’s a sneaky peaky before the big photo shoot
These shots were taken at our lovely B&B and the Bunbury Jetty, respectively. It was a great and very relaxing minivacay – sometimes you just need time away from it all, ya know?
Current activities include bodice construction for my LBD! Remember this?
I made a muslin for it with one side with sleeves and one side without
Question is…sleeves or no sleeves? I’m thinking no sleeves because I want it to be as versatile as possible – ie: can wear it under a blazer as easily as to a night out with pearls (as a good LBD should be), but the sleeves add something very nice to the silhouette of the dress, non? Maybe I should plan another one with sleeves?
What do you all think?
Relax and Enjoy,
Kat

I make usually as well withouth sleeves… easier to wear under the jackets – as you said. But I like the sleeves you are planning to make (if).
Wonderful dress you have made… I hope for better sunny wearther to have have more energy for sewing. This gray rainy days are not helping.
Yes, I’m leaning that way too – I can always make another one! Sorry to hear you’re stuck with glum weather – I know that when I get too many rainy days my energy levels and morale go a bit low. Vancouver was very much like that – 2 months of non stop grey and rain. Some people take it better than others. I was OK, but was really ready for summer after that!
There is hope though – for summer … or at least spring first..
Yes, and it’s so much sweeter after a long dark winter
Love the Italian Cambie! Such pretty fabric.
I do like the sleeve, I think it looks gracious but I agree about the versatility!
Thanks Lizzy…maybe I’ll make 2!
Your dress is Cambilicious
I do like the sleeve, it’s quite pretty. On the other hand, I definitely understand the practicality of not having scrunched up sleeves under a jacket/cardigan etc.
Hey hey! Thanks for the comment and I think that you invented a new word (I like it!). Yeah, same issue here…I think I’ve decided I’ll make two dresses…this one w/o sleeves and another one with…we’ll see how this ones goes
The sleeve *is* pretty though…
I love your cambina. I always make dresses with sleeves but only because I have got to ‘that age’ where my arms are not something I want on display unless absolutely unavoidable.
We share a love of trains – I have just got back from a trip on the Eurostar for Brussels which I really enjoyed and my partner and I want to go on a rail holiday this year where we sleep on a train. Now where did I put my anorak?
Love that Cambina fabric! Re sleeves…I’d go with making two versions
Thanks! You got it!
